Fire extinguisher quantity calculator

Calculate the approximate number of extinguishing units (JG) and required fire extinguishers for your premises according to the Fire Extinguisher Ordinance. For facilities in Poreč and all of Istria, PROTEX-POREČ performs service and delivery of extinguishers.

Fire hazard

Result

18extinguishing unit (JG)

For 100 m² of fire sector and medium fire hazard.

Suggested extinguisher combinations

  • 2 × S9+ (ABC powder extinguisher 9 kg (with cylinder)) per 15 JG = 30 JG
  • 2 × S6+ (ABC powder extinguisher 6 kg (with cylinder)) per 12 JG = 24 JG
  • 2 × P6+ (ABC powder extinguisher 6 kg (constant pressure)) per 12 JG = 24 JG
  • 4 × P3A (ABC powder extinguisher 3 kg (constant pressure)) per 5 JG = 20 JG
  • 5 × P2A (ABC powder extinguisher 2 kg (constant pressure)) per 4 JG = 20 JG

The calculation is informative and based on Table 3 of the Fire Extinguisher Ordinance. The final number, type, and arrangement of extinguishers are determined by a fire risk assessment, i.e., a fire protection project for a specific facility.

How are extinguishing units calculated?

The Regulation prescribes the required number of extinguishing units according to the fire sector area and the degree of fire hazard: up to 50 m² requires 6 JG (minor), 12 JG (medium), or 18 JG (high hazard), and as the area increases, the number of JG rises in steps up to 1000 m² (36 / 72 / 108 JG). For every additional 250 m², 6, 12, or 18 JG are added, depending on the hazard. Each type of extinguisher carries a certain number of JG — for example, an S9+ extinguisher carries 15 JG, and an S6+ 12 JG.
